God's Work, Our Hands

"God's Work, Our Hands" Sunday took place on September 7, 2025, and is an annual day of service for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to celebrate community engagement and service. Hundreds of ELCA churches around the country took part in this event.

This iniative encourages congregations and members to engage in service projects that benefit their communities, embodying the church's mission to live out faith through action.

The projects St. John Lutheran Church participated in were cookie decorating, delivering cookies to individuals in nursing homes, helping hands (cleaning windows, decks, siding, and doing landscaping for elderly and/or disabled citizens), cleaning up the Memorial Garden, emptying the clothing closet, organizing the Coats for Kids items, organizing the 25-Cent Store, serving at the Community Food Bank, and organizing the Blessing Box.
